Challenge:

Goal of the 3D Experience was:

  • Make it extremely immersive.
  • Create in game gadgets that leverage 3D controls.
  • Setup should be a breeze, reduce burden on users.

Design Strategy:

  • A systematic UCD process was adopted, which started with analyzing competitive data, user personas and the target segments
  • detailed user journeys, mood boards and concepts were evaluated to ensure that needs of end users are appropriately addressed.
  • Competitive Landscape analysis was done

Process:

  • The CP UI and HW Interaction Experience was carved out with multiple models.
  • Iterative prototyping of transmitter and CP UI to get the right experience:
  • Several interaction prototypes were created and evaluated from interaction perspective.
  • Setup control panel and display prototypes underwent 7-8 rounds of iterations till the final experience matched with the HW simplicity.
  • Both end user consumer and Enterprise customers were drawn out separately but with unified experience in mind.
  • Different topologies of display types were usability tested
  • Mockups and iterations were created to identify interaction design issues in setup, installation and management of displays with easy to use control panel designs

Hardware design options were evaluated with differing experiences

The Web Experience:

  • Web forums, user feedbacks, and complete end-to-end customer testing’s were evaluated which meant creating the right tools
  • on the 3Dvision site and incorporating those in the product.
  • Here are screenshots of website designed for 3D Vision customer touchpoint
  • Users could download pre-configured games that are optimized for 3D experience with multiple monitors and perfect 3D settings for their best gaming experiences.

Real Time Usability Testing at gaming LAN conference

Final Result

  • NVIDIA 3D Vision gaming kit introduced in 2008 made this technology available for mainstream consumers and PC gamers.
  • Later it was extended to Enterprise users
  • CSAT score : 4.5/5
  • SUS scale : 95

Nvidia made $ 14.5MM Revenue in its first year of launch and also CES best in class product award in2008

Design of Control Panel to Setup Multi Display Immersive Experiences

Challenge:
GPU technologies were widely being adopted by consumer and enterprises to enhance the overall graphic experience, whether its playing of PC games or using it for 3D CAD/Virtualization/Multidisplay technologies

Process:
A lot of creative effort was put in to make the setup of multi-display very easy, this also meant that the technology was tuned to be working for all kids of user categories.
Lots of design alternatives were created, iterated and modified to the meet the desired persona of the category for which the display setup control panel was being designed for

Solution:
Integrated Control panel designed with PC’s
Multi topology setup was redesigned
10ft UI for consumer category for TV gaming
Gadgets for immersive behavioral experience

Topology Design variations were prototyped and analyzed in Usability Testing Lab

Several options were tested with multiple end scenario based configurations

Final Design implemented on major customer sites including NASA, Traffic headquarters New York, Wall Street, etc.

Final Designs of control panel integrated with MS windows device settings.

The Final Result:

Business grew by 28% in acquiring new customer base with additional revenue generation of 14% in the first year of launch. The NPS score shiowed a staggering 92 and user satisfaction index was 9.2/10.
